Our Communities
ATREE has set up Community-based Conservation Centres, or CCCs, to produce research pertinent to and usable by local communities and to provide a space for local communities to engage with us. The CCCs support:
- Long-term ecological monitoring
- Research by doctoral students and interns
- Collaboration with communities on conservation and sustainable livelihoods
- Interactions with local governance institutions
- Conservation education programmes
- Activities of other research organizations
ATREE has five CCCs in the Western Ghats stretch, ranging in character from peri-urban to Protected Area forest to Ramsar wetland.
