Climate-smart Agriculture – What is it Good For?

Abstract The talk addresses the new rubric of climate-smart agriculture that is being widely propagated by the World Bank, FAO and other international organisations. Dr Taylor asks to what extent climate-smart agriculture constitutes an innovative governance framework apt for the challenges that climate change poses. About the speaker Marcus Taylor is an Associate Professor in the Department of Global Development Studies, Queen’s University, Canada. A development sociologist by training, Dr Taylor has published widely on issues in the political economy of development. His latest book, Global Labour Studies is coming out with Polity Press, later this year. His recent work has focused on the question of climate change adaptation in agrarian settings.
