Research interests
My research interests lie primarily in the documentation and conservation of biodiversity in the upland areas of northeastern India. My PhD research focuses on swidden and village hunting by indigenous tribes in the biodiversity rich hill forests of northeast India. These are activities that have complex linkages with culture, socioeconomics, regional identity and local institutions. I attempt to understand the implications of current policies aimed at curbing swidden and hunting in the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
