Research and Innovation for Sustainable Clean Water and Sanitation in India

ATREE in collaboration with Indian Institute of Science, James Hutton Institute and University of Glasgow launched event of Scottish Government funded project on Research and Innovation for Sustainable Clean Water and Sanitation in India’ at Taj West End, Bangalore on 28^th November 2018.

The event was hosted and addressed by the Honourable Deputy First Minister of Scotland John Swinney MSP. The aim was to disseminate information about Scottish Government funded research activities in India in support of Sustainable Development Goal 6 on clean water and sanitation for all, share prototypes and learnings, engage potential future funders, Central Pollution Control Board, academics, launch the Berambadi Waste Water Treatment Plant and discuss new projects.

The objectives of the event:

1. To present an overview of Scottish funded research projects on water and sanitation in India under the Hydro Nation International Programme.
2. To formally launch the Decentralized Wastewater Treatment System at Berambadi built with the engagement of the rural community.
3. Engage partners to support new opportunities to ensure the future legacy of the community-led decentralised wastewater prototype.
